Heidi Tan

Heidi Tan is a 2016 graduate of the Canadian Film Centre’s Cineplex Entertainment Producer’s Lab. After completing her residency, Heidi joined the Brain Power Studios production team for three scripted feature films which were picked up by Super Channel in Canada, and The Pony Sitters Club, a live action children’s television series for Netflix and Discovery Latin America. Heidi was a producer on Nobody Famous, a Canadian feature film that premiered at Whistler Film Festival and released theatrically in Canada by Parallel Universe Pictures. It was also picked up for worldwide distribution by Gravitas Ventures and is available on Amazon Prime.

Heidi began her career in film and television as an actress while completing her Bachelor of Business Administration at York University’s Schulich School of Business. To transition into producing, Heidi taught herself the basics by producing over 20 short films in one year. At the same time, Heidi worked at Devine Entertainment Inc. in sales and distribution of their children’s educational film library, at Hop To It Productions where she assisted with business affairs for their TVO Kids program Pop It!

In 2012 she joined Temple Street Productions (now Boat Rocker Media). At Boat Rocker Media, Heidi worked in development in the scripted and factual television departments. Later, Heidi took on the responsibility of line producing content for the company's digital department. In this capacity, Heidi has worked on projects for The Next Step (Family), Lost & Found Music Studios (Family, Netflix), Killjoys (Space, SyFy), and two unscripted web series for Huffington Post Canada. She also produced the CSA-nominated X Company Animated project for season 2 of X Company (CBC). She also produced Boat Rocker’s first ever live action documentary, The Next Step Live! The Movie which screened at Cineplex across Canada.
